WanderLost ... in the right direction

Welcome to WanderLost ... where those who Wander will never be Lost…

We know firsthand how difficult it is taking a step back and slowing down. The importance of escaping the routines and boundaries of everyday life has become not just a luxury but a necessity.

Within easy reach of Sheffield Train Station we are a few miles from the Peak District, England and Wales’ first National Park and home of the 1932 Kinder Scout mass trespass.

Whether you’re a seasoned traveller or first time explorer our luxurious and easy to drive Volkswagen T6.1 campervan is fully equipped with everything you need to get you started on your adventure.

There is nothing quite like the freedom of the long open road. With unlimited mileage the possibilities are endless and you will create wonderful memories of an unforgettable trip.

All you need are the keys and your favourite playlist. All we ask is you slow down, take a moment, then go get lost and WANDER!

Say hello to our beautiful Bea!

Yes, she’s bright and no, she wasn’t the only colour left! We love her and hope you will too. Plus she’s easy to spot on the open road making her much safer to drive.

Bea is a luxuriously converted Volkswagen T6.1 and has everything you need for your camper van adventure with solar panel and bike rack included. We’ll provide all the necessary bits to get your adventure going.

Bea can sleep up to four people with two double sleeping compartments. The spacious pop top roof in this iconic camper provides an upper pull down double bed with foam mattress and the seats convert into a double bed.

To get you adventure ready we have put together a few tips and tricks. We would like you to be as prepared as possible but should you have any further questions please get in touch here.

Make a booking

To confirm your booking, a 25% non refundable deposit will be required. For insurance purposes we will need you to email copies of the following for each driver:

  • A copy of your photocard drivers’ licence (address and ID must be up to date)
  • An online DVLA licence check code dated within 21 days of the start of your rental period www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
  • Two proofs of address from separate sources (name and address must match those on your licence). If unsure what to send, there’s a full list in our terms & conditions.

Please bring these documents with you on collection. Without these, we cannot confirm your booking or release the campervan

Security Deposit & Insurance Excess Information

A security deposit of £1250 (unless reduced to £750 as an optional extra) must be paid by the authorised driver 7 days before your rental begins. This will automatically be held on your payment card and will serve as the insurance excess should it be required. This will be refunded within 7 days of the campervan being returned safe and sound.

Rental Agreement

We will forward this to you after the booking is confirmed. Please return a signed copy to us 7 days before collection of the vehicle.

Collection Day

We are based in central Sheffield and can’t wait to meet you and get you started on your road-trip. Pick up is at 3pm and return is at 11am. You are welcome to leave your car at our premises free of charge and at your own risk. We will spend some time with you going through everything you need to know about the van but will do our best to get you on the road as quickly as we can.

Where do we collect the Campervan from

We are located in central Sheffield, gateway to the Peaks and wherever else the road may be taking you. Minutes from the M1, Sheffield Parkway and within easy reach of the train station. The full address will be given 7 days before collection.

We live locally, can you collect us?

Absolutely! Just tell us where and within reason we will be there.

Can we have more than one driver

Of course. As long as they meet our insurance company’s criteria. You just have to select an additional driver as an optional extra and let them know what information we need from them.

Can I book additional days

We will do our best. Not always easy during peak times but do get in touch and we will try to accommodate your request.

What about insurance

Comprehensive motor insurance is included in the basic price for yours and our peace of mind. If you are unfortunate enough to be in an accident you will have to pay the policy excess which is £1250 (unless reduced to £750 as an optional extra). View our full insurance details in the terms and conditions.

What happens if there is a problem with the camper

In the unlikely event of a breakdown, we have 24 hour VW Roadside Assistance. If the van cannot be repaired, we will refund the remainder of your hire period and do our best to arrange for alternative hire.

Is my personal property included in the insurance cover

Unfortunately not. It will be considerably cheaper to arrange your own travel insurance and we highly recommend you do this for your own peace of mind.

What if I am unable to travel

We really hope this doesn’t happen for you as we’ve experienced this ourselves. Unfortunately we won’t be able to refund your hire. Please be sure to read our cancellation policy in our full terms and conditions. As with any holiday, we strongly recommend you take out your own travel insurance to cover these setbacks.

Can I bring my dog

Absolutely! There are many occasions when we would prefer spending all our time with the pups than with crowds of people! We have four between us and an adventure is never the same without them. Our campervan is pet friendly, apart from the pop-top sleeping compartment. Please just make sure they are well behaved and refer to our pet policy in the terms & conditions. You will need to select them as an optional extra to cover our costs of deep cleaning. We’ve also put together a pet adventure pack to save you bringing those little extras.

What else should we bring with us

Beer or Wine and plenty of crisps (preferably salt & vinegar). Our campervan is equipped with a fridge, freezer, sink, hob and microwave as well as all the cooking utensils and crockery you might need. You will need to bring your own bedding along with pillows, towels and that kind of thing unless you’d rather we sort that for you and save you the washing.

Roughing it versus comfort?

We love our van and the adventures they take us, but when you get to a certain age, it’s not like sleeping in your own bed. We strongly recommend you bring a mattress topper for extra comfort on the downstairs bed. We have a luxury memory foam mattress topper that we can set up with bedding/duvet/pillows and have this rolled away ready for you to easily set up on your first night. The pop-top sleeping compartment comes with a mattress and the children have found this ok.

Can we go off grid

You surely can! Our van is fitted with a solar panel that will keep charging the leisure battery for you. Please keep an eye on the control panel of your usage. We recommend occasionally during your trip to find an electric hook-up site to fully charge the battery if necessary. The fridge is the biggest energy user so be mindful to have it on the lowest setting necessary and don’t have the door open for long periods. The USBs and internal lighting all work off the leisure battery. The 3 pin sockets will only work when plugged into an electric hook-up.

Where should we go

We’re happy to share any travelling tips and advice. Get in touch with us and we will help if we can. The more we all adventure the more we can all share. We would love it for you to pop a comment in our book of your adventures which we will add to our website for others to get tips. We highly recommend downloading the ‘park4night’ app that will give you lots of info on where to camp on and off grid.
